| Will having a breast augmentation surgery increase my chances of getting breast cancer? |
| No. Research studies have shown that women getting breast implants are not at an increased risk for getting breast cancer. It is important, however, that your mammographer be experienced in mammography for women with breast implants, because implants can sometimes make it more difficult to detect it. |

| How long do I have to rest before I can resume working, exercise and drive? |
| You can start driving again when you are not taking any pain medication, and you feel well enough to respond quickly in traffic situations. You should not drive until you have full range of motion with your arms. . However, any intense physical exercise should not be performed for four weeks following the operation. You will be able to return to work within one week of surgery, provided that you do not lift anything heavier than 5 lbs for one month after surgery. |

| What type of anesthesia will I have? |
| Typically, general anesthesia is used for breast surgery so that you sleep throughout the entire procedure. In some cases, however, local anesthesia with intravenous sedation is also an option. |

| After surgery, under what circumstances should I contact my doctor? |
| Contact your doctor: |
- If you experience increased swelling or bruising in the operated area
- If swelling and redness continues after a few days.
- If you notice increased redness along the incision/scar.
- If you experience excessive or heightened pain that does not get alleviated by medication.
- If you have develop side effects to medications that may last for a long time; such as, rashes, nausea, headache, vomiting.
- If your body temperature measured orally reads more than 100.4 degrees.
- If you notice yellow or green drainage/pus from the incisions, which may or may not be accompanied with foul odor.
- If your incisions are bleeding, and are not controlled effectively by applying light pressure.
- If you experience numbness or loss of sensation in the operated area.
